LCM Network Newsletter
4/12/2023 Edition
Welcome to the LCM Network
You can get early news of new roles by following the LCM company page. It may not be as pretty and curated, but you may hear of a role a day or two sooner--and those days can make all the difference! You can open the page via the link below and click the 'Follow' button on the main page.
The more reach I have, the more I will be able to help people to match with great companies (and help companies match with great new employees!)
This is also the best way to stay updated with new job postings, job search tips, and featured candidates. Also, check out my website: LeahCareerMatchmaker.com! Need help with your resume or job search? Sign up here

Tip of the Week - Network Proactively (even when networking reactively)
Playing the long networking game can be hard when you needed a job YESTERDAY, but the best and most valuable connections take time. If you are hungry, you want food now, but if that takes time away from planting the harvest, you'll forever be hungry. How can you harvest now and plant seeds for the future? Get connected with people you would like to work with or you would like to have recruit you even if they aren't hiring for your perfect fit now.
Many people will message the job poster when there is a perfect fit open role, and they have applied. However, building a connection for THAT role is probably too late.

However, unfortunately, many of us cannot wait to start sowing. Instead, every time you find a job, company, or role that is intriguing, sow for the future simultaneously.
Easy Mode (Reactive Networking)
1. If you have LinkedIn Premium, you may have the option to "meet the hiring team." Of course, in this case, send a message to the person hiring, noting that you have applied and are interested. If they are smart, they will make this a free inmail, but they don't let you attach documents. Be creative and share a Google link to your resume in PDF form (make sure it is set to anyone can view). Here's an example.
Hi {name},
I hope you’re doing well. I just applied to the {position title} role at {company} you posted. I would be a great fit because I {3-5 things relevant to the job post}. I would love to learn more about {company} and share my qualifications.
Best,
Leah
2. Connect with the hiring team member too! If you can't get a free inmail above, send a shorter version as your connection message. If you can, send a connection request that says you just applied but would love to connect to hear about other opportunities. 3. If you aren't a Premium member or they don't list a hiring team member, sleuth a bit. Search LinkedIn using the Boolean "Company Name" AND "job title" AND "hiring" in posts and sort by latest. People who post those can be messaged/connected with. You can add, "I was hoping you could direct me to who was hiring for this role."
4. Regardless of whether the above worked, check out the company page and follow it. You'll be among the first to know if the company posts a job.
Advanced Mode (Proactive Networking)
A job or company is either not a great fit yet, but will be in the future or is currently a good fit and may have the role you want now or in the future. Go to the company page and find the "People" tab. Search for recruiter, hiring, or talent. Follow those people, engage with their posts, and send a connection request with a request to chat if you're feeling brazen.
2. Search instead on this page for people with the job title(s) you want. Follow and engage with these people.
Hard Mode (Finding Allies)
The best way to be in the position to find your next role is to figure out how someone else did it. If you support others, they will remember and be more likely to help. People who just got a new role often use the template that uses the phrase "excited to announce" and people also use it to share important accomplishments. Search LinkedIn using the Boolean "excited to announce" AND "job/field" AND "company name" in posts and sort by latest. (You can also leave the company names out and find people--that can also help you find companies hiring!). Sincerely reach out to congratulate them. If they respond, ask if they'd be willing to share how they did it and if they have any insights about the process or company. If you apply to that company in the future they will already be in your corner and you can ask to pass your name along.
God Mode (being an ally)
When people reach out to you, be kind and helpful. That's all.
